Maple Street Biscuit Company has become a local (and even farther than local) favorite the last four years and it's easy to taste why!  Becoming popular for their biscuits and maple coffees, as their name suggests, they have recently taken a foray into the salad world.  I set out today with Mister Two and Miss Seven to taste one of these salads for myself.  I usually get an Iron Goat, a flaky biscuit with lots of spinach and generous portion of melting goat cheese or the The Squawking Goat, a biscuit with fried chicken, warm goat cheese, topped with pepper jelly.  As you can see, I have some adventurous tastes, but if you like your biscuits on the simpler side, never fear, they have plenty of old standbys, biscuits in gravy, egg and cheese biscuits and more.

Today's visit was all about the salad. I saw a Tweet of an interesting salad in a Mason Jar and thought that would be a fun lunch! They have three salads which all come in cute Mason Jars, keeping with the down home feel of the restaurant. I ordered the RBC which has Romaine Lettuce, Grape Tomatoes, Thick-Cut Bacon, and Grated Cheddar Cheese with a Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. The salad was presented on a cute baking pan along with the dressing, an order of grilled chicken (which I ordered separately) and an adorable miniature vegetable biscuit.

I was definitely not disappointed! I wondered just how much salad was in that Mason Jar and I was pleasantly surprised when I poured it out and it filled up the pan and then some! As for the taste--the bacon was thick-cut and the maple flavor was perfect. The dressing was light, yet flavorful and complimented the salad well. The only downfall--the Biscuit! It was too small! I love the savory aspects of it and would have loved it to be a little bigger.
